Red face ActiveX controls inserted on a template do not function well

Hello,

I'm new in this sight, and hope someone here can help me with a problem I couldn't find answer to in any other forum.
I have inserted some ActiveX (action buttons and text boxes) on a word template I have created. The code related to these objects is located under the template project. When I try to use them on the template itself, they function well. When I open a new document from the template, the controls do not function until each and every one of them is clicked on once. In this first click they do not function, but marked as if the Design mode is on (and it's not!). After all of them were marked this way, they all become functioning (it's like this first time click activates them in some way). What can I do to make them work from the beginning? Do I need to activate the objects in any way?
Thanks
Gadi
