Default speed woes

Hi Noble friends!

A few days ago I asked the members of this form for advice in making Word speed up.

I am still suffering from these pains and it seems to be getting worse.

Is there a way that I can see a list of all the properties of the file that may have a bearing on this issue and forward it to the members of this forum for some advice?

Almost all formatting is done with styles etc. so I really don't know why I should be suffering these pains.

Thank you.

Susan

To the best of my (admittedly limited) knowledge, the only thing that would have a major impact on performance is file size. How big is this file?

Apart from that, viruses or malware might be a better explanation. What kind of virus/malware protection are you running?

Can you post the file itself?

If the information is proprietary or confidential, maybe you can make a copy of it (Save As, a different name) and then run the macro found on this site, which should replace letters with random replacement, creating gibberish but with all the formatting and capitalization you already have. Replace confidential text with filler in Word - Office Watch

Just found that, btw. It's kind of a cool idea, if a simple tool.

The file size is not large and it shouldn't be slowing you down.

I would recommend disabling the Malwarebytes and see if performance increases. Also, are you using Grammarly or other third party addins?

I am terrified to turn my security software off even for a second. But I will try...
I am UL the file for members to examine. Nothing confidential but it is in Hebrew so just ignore if it shows up as jibberish.

All your help and concern is sincerely appreciated!!!

Windows Defender should be sufficient protection.

Malware Bytes has a history of problems with Word.

Default partial solution

I have changed the view mode to draft and things are much faster. So I will have to stick with this?

You can stick to that view but most users would disable malware bytes instead to see if they get a speed improvement while in Print View.

I note that doing a google search for "Malware Bytes Microsoft Word slow" yields over 5 million hits so you might not be the first person to have problems like this.
