How Do I Unlock My File

I have put off buying Microsoft Word for a long time and I had been relying on Open Office. But due to the professional nature of my work lately and due to some formatting issues, I decided to take the plunge and buy Microsoft Word.

The Problem I am now having is that the file I am trying to edit is "locked". I do not see any menu options to unlock the file. Please help !
