I am sorry for bothering the noble members of this forum with what may be a very easy question.
Is there a way to connect a section break to a style? In other words, every time I formatted text with the style it will insert immediately after the formatted text or before it a section break. Thank you very much.

Hi Susan,
It is not possible. It is possible to have Page Break Before paragraph formatting in a Style.
What is it that you are trying to accomplish that you think takes a Section break? Perhaps I or someone else here can help you do what you want.

Section breaks carry with them an enormous formatting load and unnecessary Section breaks can make documents much harder to edit.

Thank you very much for responding to my question I never knew that section breaks take a heavy toll on formatting! Wow!
What I'm trying to accomplish is that one ever there is a certain style this should indicate word to begin footnote numbering anew via the option in footnotes to start the numbering in each section from one.
Any novel ideas?

No way to do that with a Style.

You do need a Section Break to restart footnote numbering.

• You could create a macro and add a button to your Quick Access Toolbar to insert an Odd-Page or New-Page section break.
  • Modifying the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in Microsoft Word
  • You could also/instead tie it to a keyboard shortcut.

• You could put that break together with text in a style and save it as AutoText or a Building Block. That could be attached to a Keyboard shortcut.

  • Create reusable text snippets

Here is a macro to insert such a break. It was simply recorded. A macro could also apply a paragraph style after the section break if you want.
