Further research suggests otherwise. The steps are quite easy when you know how.

Select "File" tab.

Click "Info" in left pane.

In the right hand window under "Related Documents" click "Edit Links to Files".

In list window shift select all images to be saved.

You can now either click "Break Link" button, or check "Save picture in document" before clicking OK.

The file can now be saved as a Single File Web Page complete with all images.
