Post Footer issue with {IF { PAGE } = { NUMPAGES }"" ""} translated by mod

Bonjour,

Cordialement,
Dadoo

Good morning,

I have a word document written on 2 columns and whose number of pages varies, it is a monthly brochure. There is only one footer namely on the last page (215 words in 12 lines).

For that I use {IF { PAGE } = { NUMPAGES }"my footer last page" ""} inserted in the footer of the first page, that of the even page 1 and the odd page 1, the rest pages manages itself. "

Everything works well" except that there is something wrong with the text input when the footer must be removed and go to the next page. At this time, with each character keystroke, the current page moves right and left with each key press. As if the IF condition was re-evaluated for each new character entered.

Here is the process:

(1) I double click on my basic template, it opens me a single page blank document, with my first page header, an empty document body on 2 columns, and the footer in question which will be pushed to the last page.

(2) I fill the 2 columns with text and this up to the top of the footer of page 1. At this level I have, my document is 1 page, with its header, a body on 2 columns filled with text and my footer

(3) and there as soon as I write one more character, the footer disappears (which seems normal) but with each character entry, the page starts to go from right to left.

(4) after the 2 columns of page 1 are completely filled with this heckling, the typing becomes normal again, my continuous text on page 2, I fill the 2 columns again up to the top of the footer then repeat the same problem only in (3)

To know: if my footer contains few words, it works very well

Has anyone encountered this problem or have a solution to help me?

Thank you for the time that I take you

Cordially, Dadoo

Hello, I took the liberty of using Google translate to add to your post in English on this English-language forum.

It appears you are using the Footer on last page field construction. Your process looks like it would put this in the First-Page footer but I doubt that is what you are doing.

Could you attach a short sample document with the problem?
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum.

(Word file, not screenshot)

Hello and thank you for your answer. I also use Google Translator to go faster

Here is an example with a word document attached.

Just write anything in the body of the document and you will see the problem appear when you get to the footers

My goal is for the footer to be displayed only on the last page automatically.
Indeed, when I have only one page, the footer is displayed, since it is the last page.

However, with each new document creation from this template, I don't know the exact final page count. It is normally between 10 and 15 pages. That's why it must be done automatically with this formula or with vba code (I didn't find an auto solution in vba)

when we use the formula field with just a few words, for the text to be displayed, it works very well.

the problem comes when there is a lot of text, like in my case.

A vba solution, might be to dynamically enlarge the bottom margin height of the last page, but I don't know how to do this dynamically, automatically.

If the amount do be displayed exceeds the capacity of an IF field, put your text into an AutoText entry in your template and then where you want it displayed (in the IF field) use an AutoText field referring to the entry.

You can actually store as any kind of building block and use the AutoText Field.

You do not need to increase the bottom height of the footer. The area allocated to it will expand to fit whatever content you insert. A problem comes with the IF field, though, if the content inserted more than fills the last page (creating a new last page).

Good evening

I implemented what you suggested, but the original problem is still there.

Here is what I have in my footer:

{IF {PAGE} = {NUMPAGES} {AUTOTEXT PDPTCVF} " "}

PDPTCVF is the building block created from the "text aera" button in the insert tab. This building block is saved in the text aera gallery.

Here is what I noticed more in my tests:
when I write my text and this until the moment when the footer must disappear and go to the next page (according to the IF formula...), and allow me to continue writing on the current page, if the display of the document on the screen is on "page width" or "full page", and that I see the entire bottom of the current page (I mean the bottom of the sheet of paper), the problem does not seem to appear.

On the other hand, if I do not see the entire bottom of the page displayed (of the sheet), the problem appears, the display of the document goes from right to left with each character entry, and that as long as I am on this page. If my display is on "several pages" the problem appears in any case.

I feel like this is a Word error that should be fixed. I can of course help to solve this problem.

Cordially,
David
