Column issues.... Inserting text in column one moves text in column two
I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse, alas...I'm stuck:
I want to have a 2 column document - one side original language text, on the other a translation. The document is some pages long. I want to copy my original text in full one the left column and then , line by line add translation to the right side without having text from the left column move. I'm sure it's dead simple, but it totally escapes me. Help appreciated ! |

Why not simply use a two-column table?

I agree with Paul, you want a two-column Table. You could have one row for each line if you want. I guess I would use one row for each paragraph.
The Columns layout is intended for continuous text as in a newspaper or magazine where text inserted in the first column will move text in the second column to make room. |
