Hello,


I need to reproduce attached sample document in MS Word. First file in the sample.
I have managed, thanks to Greg Maxey,Sorting Lists (Macro Methods) that far as seen is the second attachment.
Using his method line numbers right-to-left section direction works, if there are a single column in the document, but if there are two columns then the columns also move right-to-left, which is not what I need. Probably it's a right setup in Hebrew.
Is it possible to switch the columns and line numbers around?
I have seen on google a partial solution using SEQ field numbering which I admit I have no tried yet since this seemed a quicker and a cleaner way.

Clarifying after looking at your sample document...

The problem you are having is that the column on the right is before the one on the left, for text as well as for the line numbering. That is, the text starts in the right-most column and flows to the left-most column.

I tried the first method (different page size) and it does not work that well.

Placing the text in a table does not work. - No line numbers.

Yes, line numbers are not possible in a table, I tried it, but without success and then reading Google understand, it's not possible.
It's intersting what software they use to produce these kinds of documents. Maybe Publisher?
There are a big number of charter parties used in commercial shipping, they also have a first page as box form where to fill in the information. During negotiations these lines are being stricken out, additional line put in etc. In former days it was don by hand on a print-out form, and honestly I think its an archaic way these day, it's used less and less. But sometimes these forms are needed.
In general, curently these forms are done in Word, each doing it differently, very ugly and awkward, tabbing by hand, numbers by hand, etc., a complete mess.
Will report if I find some solution.
I might investigate html/css possibility.

You could always fake the line numbers by entering them manually in text boxes which are anchored to the page header, if appropriate. The text boxes, because they are anchored to the header, would repeat on all pages. Of course, the limitation is that the page numbers would restart on each new page.

Thanks to everybody who responded and gave valuable insights into the problem.
The business issue was solved by using a more contemporary proforma document which was adopted for use, consisting of a box form + usual clauses in a form of multilevel numbering which is not hard to set up.
It's still a bit challenge to properly set up that box form for filling it in. Manually doable, but I want to set it for automatic loading from Access DB.
