Default Formatting the output from a {ref} formula

I'm currently working on a document that will function with the user selecting different components to a piece of equipment via some drop downs and the document then spitting out information about the equipment based on the various drop down selections. The problem I'm having is that when I use the reference formula, I don't have any way to format the information. I.e. If I have a dropdown to select something, and the referenced information that gets shown has 3 bullet points of information associated with it, the 3 bullet points don't come in as bullet points but instead come in as 3 lines of text without any bullet point or tabbed formatting associated with them. As I am aiming to have large swaths of information, ideally having the output information formatted the way I want it to be formatted would be the best option.

You should post a sample doc that shows what you are doing and how the 'reference formula' is expected to work.

Hint: I would be doing this with Rich Text Content Controls for the bullet points.
