Default Keyboard shortcut

Hi there,

I hope you are all well

I would like to know if it is possible to create keyboard shortcuts for specific sections of my word file such a specific Heading.

I know that you can create keyboard shortcuts from the customize the ribbon option but cannot find the way to create one for a specific heading.
I know that a workaround would be to make visible the navigation pane but would like to create a shortcut instead.

Thanks
Sanchez

Not without a macro. You can create a cross-reference that acts as a hyperlink.

You can have a keyboard shortcut apply a specific style, if that is what you are asking. Use the "Styles" category in the Customize Keyboard dialog box (File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Customize).

Perhaps you are trying to navigate to a particular heading? In that case, as Charles has already suggested, you will need a macro.

The Built-In headings already have keyboard shortcuts for headings 1-3.

Hi Stefan, thanks for your response. yes, I am referring to a particular heading. For instance, letīs say I have a 2 headings: Company history and Company values. Iīd like to assign a keyboard shortcut to the Company values heading only so I can get to such content quickly.

Thanks

The easiest solution would be to bookmark the Company values heading and then create a macro which moves the insertion point to that bookmark. However, this is not necessarily the safest way. For example, bookmarks may easily be deleted (by mistake).

You could also display the Navigation Pane and use that.

The Add-In is a .dotx template that is placed in the Word Startup Folder. It contains no macros.

Heading Style Keyboard Shortcuts Add-In for Headings 4-9
Heading Styles 1-3 have built-in shortcuts which this expands. You do not need to use the Add-In but can assign shortcuts yourself to the styles as was explained in the third link I listed.
