When I open Word it gives me a list of available files, including, unfortunately, earlier saved versions of the same document, which is annoying and confusing!
How can I have Word list the last versions only?!!

Are you referring to the 'Back Stage" screen?
When you say 'versions' of the same document, are these named differently? Or are these the Auto-Save/Auto-Recovery versions of the files?

I don't know what the "Back Stage" screen is, but they look like the the Auto Save/Auto Recovery files,with the same name. but in sequence by the date they were last saved.
They appear listed in a side screen that can be closed.
