Insert text box

Hi. I was able to insert text boxes in word 2007. This is 2018. I can only insert a blue rectangular shape and can't enter text into it.

Is their another way?

Insert Tab > Text Box
Choose from the Gallery or draw your own.

As Charles said, you can use Insert tab > Text group > Insert Text Box > Draw Text Box.

A quicker method is to add the Text Box command to the Quick Access Toolbar.
