Although I own more recent Word versions, I've always used Word 2002 because of my avoidance of the ribbon. Now, because Word 2002 is not compatible with Windows 10, I am forced to move on and I am learning to use the modern Word versions.
When I open in Word 2007 a very long "doc" document I created in Word 2002 it opens fine. But in some chapter headings, there is an extraneous grayed "[" (see attached screenshot, just before the 1). It does not appear in all chapter headings. Only on a few and I cannot delete it. What is it? What does it mean and how do I get rid of it? Thank you and sorry for the novice question. |
