TA field codes have become text after changing languages and proofing

I was looking at Chinese and Japanese addons in MS Word. I change the "Office display language" and preferred "Office authoring languages and proofing" to Chinese and Japanese in "Language" in the "Options."


And now, field codes have appeared as text - table of authorities, and page field codes. I tried to Ctrl+A and Alt+F9 but only the page field code were gone. The TA field codes are still text.
Any way to fix this?

The TA codes are likely marked as hidden text. Turn off display of hidden text. This may be the pilcrow on the Home tab.
