			Hey hello,

I am planning to do a pretty big text-doc with several hundred pages. Every page will have a headline. When I am done, I want to be able to sort the pages of the whole doc alphabetically according to the headlines. -> so page 1 will be a page with a headline that starts with "A...." and so on... Is there a way I can do that? thnx in advance for any help!! |

take a copy of the file, apply a Heading style to each of the headlines, then change to Outline view, show only the headings and sort them alphabetically

Thanks for the replies, guys - I have to admit, I am a little bit lost..

I read up on "Outline View" in MSWord, because I didnīt know what it was. Still I am not sure, that it is, what I need. Let me elaborate: I want to create a Songbook. So every Page will - show exactly one song - have a picture of a scanned song - have a headline above the scanned picture with the name of the song So once I am done with gathering all my songs in this doc, I want to be able to sort the pages alphabetically according to the headlines/names of the songs. Is this achievable with the Outline-View? Thanks!! |

There is no way to alphabetically sort these automatically built into Word.

You can use the Navigation Pane or Outline view to rearrange them yourself though. Moving/Reorganizing Pages in Microsoft Word It may be possible to use Outline view showing only the headings and run a sort. I have not tried this but it may be something that can be done. Try using a copy of your document. To do this, you would need to add the Sort command to your QAT. |
