All:
I want to add hyperlinks to different portions of a large picture. (i.e. a family tree) with each branch pointing to a different website. Is this possible in MS Word? If so, I want to place each link on a very specific part of the picture. Thanks in advance |

A picture, in Word, is a single location.
You can put this behind a borderless table and place your hyperlinks in individual cells marked as hidden. |

Couldn't I just overlay the BIG picture with smaller ones each of the smaller pictures a hyperlink?

Yes, you can overlay the big picture with shapes assigned to a hyperlink. On the Insert Tab you can choose a shape and position/resize it over your graphic. Then right click on it and choose "Hyperlink..."
