Default Auto populating labels w/out mail merge

Hi all, banging my head on something simple, I think.

I have a co-worker that uses 7x9 label sheets (63 total labels) to print stickers for an upcoming inventory. She manually enters in dates for all the labels (all 63 labels are identical dates).

I created a quick mail merge for her that auto-populates the labels with a date but I think it might be too complicated for her to maintain/change the date, etc.

I was trying to think of a way to have the labels auto populate using something simple like a header or a watermark, but those work at the document level and not individually at the cell/label level.

Is there a simple solution to this where she doesn't have to Ctrl-C and then Ctrl-V 62 times?

Thanks for any advice!

Mail merge is the simple method.

BTW, Watermarks are images in the header and work at the page/section (not document) level.

It is fairly simple to create a set of dates in an Excel column and do the merge.
Show her how to do that and give her access to this page: Mail merge using an Excel spreadsheet - Word

I think if you copy and paste across all the labels in one row, then select that row and paste onto all the remaining rows, you have way fewer than 62 copy/pastes to do.

I just tried this with Avery 5162, a two-across, seven-down grid with a small spacer column between the two labels. Worked fine. Copying the row copied the blank in the middle column. If I'd highlighted the first sell then pasted onto the entire sheet, I'd have to clean out that middle column.

If the workbook is properly configured, the user should only have to change the date in one cell - the rest of the dates should just reference that cell. No idea what your 'etc.' refers to, though.

If your co-worker is using a template for the labels then you can add a date picker content control to each of the cells in the template via Insert | Quick Parts | Document Property | Publish Date. Then all she needs to do is select a date in one and all the others will update automatically.

Mailings\Create\Labels...
Select "Full page of the Same label"
Enter desired Text Once.

Alternate. Use a Template Document (so the lable size is already set) with dummy text and then show Find and Replace on how to replace the dummy text with the desired text for all instances.
