Default header format issue

Hello,
I'm having trouble seperating the header of one section from another. As I'm currently writing my master thesis, the header of the abbreviation section should be seperate from the tables, figures, and symbols section. This is currently the case. However, the section of the introduction chapter which follows after the symbols section will not seperate. Consequently, the same header displayed in the Symbols section is also displayed in the Introduction section. The "Link to previous" is disabled and activating different first page in the header section of the introduction chapter does not prevent the Symbols header to change when changing the header name of the Introduction chapter. What am I missing?
Thx

It would help to see it. Are you using Section Break/Next Page between sections? Is it possible you just have a page break there?

I used my university's template which probably had an error. I adjusted the headers using this way and it's all working now:

Adding an automatic chapter name to a header or footer in Word
