Insert a text box Office 2016
Hi. In my old 2007, I used insert shape and pick the rectangle on the first row. I would then simply type text into it. No problems then but now i am trying this in 2016. When I insert this now, I can not add text. I have to right click and add text. The text is invisible (white) and it is centred half way down with no option for align top. This is a massive step backwards. Help. |

Sample document?
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. Is this the case when you open Word in safe mode? Are you drawing a shape and double-clicking? Using Insert > Text Box and picking one? Using Insert > Text Box and drawing one? What style is applied to the text? |

In a text box, you should be able to click and see the insertion point blinking. If this proves difficult, maybe the text box is displayed "Behind Text" or something like that.
Drawn objects, such as shapes, can also contain text. You should be able to click the box and then start typing; Word will add the text you type. To change the vertical alignment of text in the box, use the Align Text option on the Shape Format ribbon.
