Default Margins and line lengths

Hi, everyone,

Please tell me how to solve the strangest problem Word caused for me.

I downloaded a plaintext document from Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free & Borrowable Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine, pasted some pages into a Word document, and hoped to make that document look like another copy of the pasted chapter. Although the margins and the font size are the same in both Word documents, the lines of downloaded text are about twice as long as the ones in the other document. Why is that?

Thank you for your expertise.

"Trent's Catechism Intro.docx” is in Landscape mode (page settings).
"John's version.docx" is in Portrait mode (page settings).

Thank you, Robert2. I'm confused because my laptop said that my document is in Portrait mode. To solve the problem, I customized the page size to 5.2" x 8.2".

I'm confused, because I downloaded both of your files, and I'm showing the John's Version is already on that custom page size.

The spacing is also inconsistent. The top of Trent's Catechism is paragraph spaced at 1.25 and the remainder seems to be single spaced.

I use "Reveal Formatting" a lot for looking at text I didn't create. It's SHIFT + F1 in Word for Windows; not sure if that works for Word for Mac.

I'm sorry about the confusion. John wants me to make my document look like his. But I'm trying to make mine look better than that. So I'd love any advice you'd give because I'm a beginner in document layout.

I'll correct the line spacing in my document. Thanks.

To add to what other contributors have said, there is also some inconsistency in the font size. Part of the text is 10.5 points while most of it is 11 points.

Thank you, Mr. Blom. I've solved that problem because you found it.
