Default Can a text box be set to default to edit text?

I've been using MS Office products for many many years, but I have to admit that MS Word still baffles me.

I'm presently using MS Office for Mac 2011 on an older MacBook Pro and, specifically, when I open Word documents containing text boxes, I have to spend a lot of extra time trying to find just the right place to right-click on the selected text box to [ultimately] access and select the Edit Text option, which, naturally allows me to edit the text within the selected text box.

I realize that this isn't the end of the world, far from it, but when one has to do this over and over again with Word documents containing multiple text boxes, one can waste a lot of time repeating the same operation. My question is whether or not there's a way in the Word for Mac 2011 settings to set the text boxes in a Word document to default to the Edit Text function?

Thank you kindly for your time,
HL
