Hi folks,
I've posted similar questions to this forum in the past but my situation has changed a little. My company uses a .dotm toolbar template to add functionality to a bunch of our documents. We store the .dotm file on SharePoint at: https://companyname.sharepoint.com/author.dotm Many of our users have synced that SharePoint location, and on our machines it becomes: C:\Users\<username>\Company name\Regulatory - Templates\author.dotm My corporate IT doesn't want to allow users to add that local folder as a Trusted Location and instead is insisting that only the SharePoint location can be trusted (I've argued against this policy to no avail). The problem now is that whenever any of our synced users open a document and attaches the template to the SharePoint location, Word automatically redirects the attached template back to the local folder. I've tried removing the sync; it didn't work. I even tried saving a document as .xml, editing the attached location in the xml, and then saving back to .docx. As soon as I open the document, it reverts to the local folder rather than SharePoint. Does anyone know of a way around this issue? Thanks, Beej |
