Default American Australian English issue

Hi All,

I'm running Microsoft 365 Word on a Windows 10 PC.

Everything was fine until a few days ago, but then it changed my proofing language and the Read Aloud language to American, I'm Australian.

I have made sure that that my computer has the Windows display language as English Australia, and that in Word, the default is English Australia, and Languages Preferences is English Australia, but it still proofs and reads in American.

This has come up so many times in other posts, which I've looked at many, but none can resolve this issue. My computer was fine until a few days ago and then for now reason, (can't even see an update) it just switched to American and refuses to switch back.

Any thought about how to resolve this?

Rob

Hi Charles,

I saw your article in my research. Everything is correct, yet it still proofs and reads in American.

I am at a loss.

Regards,

Rob

Did you read the whole article? There are a number of things that can influence the setting for particular text.
What is your Windows Display Language setting?

Have you tried setting the styles in your Normal template in English-AU?

As Charles said, the Windows display language may affect which language is accepted as the default proofing language in Word. I have seen it happening myself, so this setting is definitely worth a closer look.
