Default Header linked to previous section does not align correctly

I'm working on a technical report. I've set up the document with a Table of Contents and individual sections. For some odd reason, the header in Section 4 does not align correctly with previous and/or following headers. If I change it, it misaligns the remaining headers throughout the document.

See attachment. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

A Word document would be more helpful in diagnosing and fixing Word problems.

Test copy attached. You'll see on page #4 that all the formatting compared to the previous pages gets whacky. Thanks again. Looking to learn the problem and how to fix if it happens again.

I can't explain it, at least yet, but your two sections seem to have different left and right margin settings as shown in the Ruler.

For some reason, the margins change from page to page and nothing I do seems to correct it. Figured I'm overlooking something. Not sure what else to do but possibly start over with fresh file.

Double Click the second Section Break (on page 2) and set the Margins using the Option to "Apply to:" = This Point Forward

Did you try this? For me, the margin settings in the dialog are the same in both sections.

The page layout is inconsistent.

Your first step should be to decide what the margin settings for the document should be, and then apply them consistently to each section. You also need to pay attention to the settings for header and footer distance which controls how far from the edge of the page the header and footer start.

Secondly you need to use Styles correctly. Headers should use the "Header" style, not "Normal". The indents you have applied to the paragraphs in the header should actually be part of the Header style so that they are applied consistently.

Footers should use the "Footer" style, not "Body Text" which has then had formatting manually applied on top.

Yes. Results created consistent margin settings for each section. There are still different indents and tab settings. A separate Style should be consistently applied or all elements changed to objects (Picture and Text Box)
However, I'm not sure why the choice of Section Breaks over simple Page Breaks. The document would likely be better served using a cover page instead (maybe? I've not used often to be wary of all the pitfalls of Cover Pages.)
If Section Breaks should be used, I would apply those Section Breaks last based on the process of Content, Format, Layout.

I figured it out guys. The above is close to where my issue originated; however, all replies to this topic were helpful. I think I'm good for now. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
