Inexplicable spaces between paragraphs in "Print Layout" View
I am having the same problem. I was not the author of the original document and was having formatting issues. I recreated the document from scratch as the original author, and still have the same problem. When in "draft mode", it looks completely normal. When in "print mode" there are added spaces between paragraphs and at the tops of the pages. It will print exactly as shown in print mode, making the document look badly formatted and very unprofessional.
I have tried everything: Increasing/decreasing margins, turning on/off "keep with next" and "page break before". I have deselected "track changes" (which I need to show with change bars in left margin for the final printed document). This is frustrating me to no end. I have literally wasted hours trying to fix this problem to no avail. [Moderator's note - split from this thread.] |

I split this into its own thread so that you can get better, quicker answers. The question you added this to is not the same question that you have. See How to post a question on this MSOffice forum.
It would help if you could attach a sample document with the problem. See How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum.. |

It sounds like a Page Setup setting. In the same way that you can left/right/centre or justify a paragraph alignment, you can do the same with vertical space in a section.
Have a look at the Page Setup > Layout > Vertical Alignment. By default, this is usually set to Top but your description sounds like it might be set to 'Justified' instead. Note that page setups apply at the section level so if your document contains more than one section you might need to apply the changes to the Whole document or work through section by section.
