Cropped images emailed to ipad show whole image
Not easy to explain in title, and may not be the correct forum, but I hope someone can assist.
Basically I've taken several screenshots of a large webpage on my laptop, cropped them in Word so they appear as one long script, and saved them as a single document. When I email the document as an attachment to my wife's ipad, open it thereon and save it into a folder, when I open the folder the crops are lost ie the individual screenshots are there, and so it does not read as one contiguous document. When I email the document to myself, the attachment does appear as one contiguous document. Compressing and deleting the hidden cropped areas on the original document made no difference. Any ideas, please? |

Are the photos in png format? If they are then use save-as to save them as jpg format instead and replace those in the document with the jpg versions.

Thanks. The images were in PNG format, but even when changed into jpg it still didn't work, I'm afraid.

I stand to be corrected on this but the only other thing I can think of is an incompatibility between a document created on a laptop using Windows based MS Word and the Word version for iPad OS.
As a test have you tried accessing the document on another Windows computer/laptop using MS Word to see if the problem appears on that as well? If it does not happen there then it points to the iPad version of Word being unable to handle the document properly. Last edited by wiganken; 05-08-2022 at 07:55 AM. |

Thanks for that - I too had wondered about the incompatibility you mention.
Unfortunately I don't have another Windows device to test with, but I'll copy it onto a usb stick and see if any friends have one to try out your suggestion. |

If possible try to use it on another Windows device that has the same version of MS Office that you created it on. i.e. Office 2007 according to your profile or as close to it as possible.
There is another thing you can try but it involves installing LibreOffice and opening the document using its 'Writer' module. LibreOffice is free so it will only cost you a bit of time and effort to try it out and you can uninstall LibreOffice afterwards. LibreOffice is very compatible with Word but not 100% so it might work or it may not. See Home | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft . Thanks for your comments.
I successfully tried the file on another laptop, Will try LibreOffice when time permits. Cheers. |

Incidentally Office 2007 support ended nearly 5 years ago so has not received fixes or security updates in that time. LibreOffice is 'alive and well' and receives fixes and security updates. It gets good ratings by those who test these things and you may want to consider it as your main office suite now instead of MS Office? They can run alongside each other. They do not conflict so no need to uninstall MS Office 2007 unless you want to.
I have LibreOffice installed as well as my MS Office 2019 since it has some features that MS Office doesn't. The ability to redact documents being one. Just a thought. |

Thanks.
I'm actually using Win 2013, which may also be unsupported now, but am not too concerned. |
