Hi,
I'm working in a table that is split left and right. This document is pre-existing and I'm updating it with new information. In the left hand side of the table is text on the same line that is aligned left and right. I can't figure out how this has been achieved. Anybody have any ideas? I've tried holding Ctrl + Tab but this only tabs over so far and then I need to space to get further out but then the text is misaligned with the pre-existing text on the right hand side. Anybody that has any ideas, it would be gratefully appreciated. I've added a picture so you can see what I mean. |

If you position the mouse at the top of the column of the table (you get a black down-arrow) and click to select all the cells of the column; you can now use the normal buttons of the menu bar to align the text as you prefer.

Maybe you have a two-column table? Some vertical borders may be hidden to create the illusion of a single column (with two different text alignment settings).
On the Home tab in Word, click the ¶ icon to display nonprinting marks. Each table cell will be terminated with an end-of-cell marker (¤). (You will also see the ¤ symbol at the end of each table row.) What do you see in your table?

The table is split into 2 columns. In the left column formatting has been done so that Specification is aligned to the left and Unit is aligned to the right of the left column. I selected the ¶ icon and I can see some arrows but i'm not sure what it really means.

The arrows indicate tab characters. Inside a table cell, you have to press Ctrl+Tab to insert a tab character. Pressing just Tab moves the insertion point to the next cell.
If you do want to use tabs, you will have to add some right-aligned tab stops to text paragraphs within cells.
