Default Crop an image to a shape, both already in the document

Hy!
I created a nice shape by edit his points, now I want to apply to a picture that already is in my document.
  1. If I proceed: Shape → fill shape → picture → I can insert picture only from my hard disk or Network place, , not my existent picture from the document.
  2. If I proceed: Picture → Crop to shape → I can insert only predefined shapes, not my existent shape from the document.
So is any method to use an existent shape with an existent picture? (both are already in the document, I don't want to reedit the shape or export the picture in a file).

I could be wrong but I think that once the picture is embedded in the document it becomes fixed and cropping is not possible because it is no longer a 'picture' but a MS Office formatted embedded object.

You can see this if you try to copy and paste the embedded photo-object from Word onto the desktop. You will find that the 'paste' option is not there (greyed out) since Windows can't handle the object. Only MS Office apps, like Word can handle it and, even then only as a copy-paste option within Word or into another MS Office app such as Excel.

I can copy the image, then open IrfanView or even PhotoShop, then paste from Clipboard and the image opens without any problem.

Yes, but that is editing the pasted photo outside of Word, not within Word. Word has converted it from an editable photo to a non-editable object whilst inside Word document. That's what I meant when I said it was an embedded object in Word.

Good luck that some expert may help you but that is my understanding of it.

On my machine I can copy the picture to my clipboard and then right click the shape and choose Format Shape. I can then select Fill > Picture or texture fill > Insert picture from Clipboard
