Hi! Can I save quick parts/building blocks to a document? Literally, embed them. So the building blocks will still be available when I open the file on a different machine or share it with a colleague.

No, not to a document. These can only be saved in a template.
See Where can Building Blocks be stored? You can insert building blocks in you document, but then they are not buliding blocks but whatever is contained in the building block. |
