Format Question, General
I have a number of Attachments and Exhibits each of which comprises multiple pages.
The debate I'm having with myself is: 1) Is it best to have the word ATTACHMENT or EXHIBIT in the header of the first page and the word Attachment along with the Page Numbers in the Footer of the subsequent pages, OR 2) Should I have the word ATTACHMENT or EXHIBIT at the top of each page and ONLY the page numbers either on all pages or just the subsequent pages. |

This is not really a Word question, as far as I can tell, but one of local court practice. Personally I would have the word "Attachment" or "Exhibit" as part of the footer on all pages for such parts. The more you can help the judge/fact finder understand what they see, the better. Keep in mind the usefulness of the StyleRef Field. For compiling multiple documents, look at Graham Mayor's Boiler Add-In. |

Mr. Kenyon:
Thank you again. MUCH APPRECIATED. I apologize if I crossed the line from Word to Courts. Was Not my intent. Since climbing the learning curve both in Word and our Court, sometime things are a little murky, at least on my end. Your advice on all pages makes sense, FWIW Court Wise (No response expected): I queried our Court in an attempt to assist them and asked if Tabs and.or a 3 ring binder with Tabs would be of benefit. Since everything is digitized now, they considered it more of a Problem than a Help. My sympathies go out to the Judge as I hate reading digital documents and also based on their standard of double spaced text, I personally find things are harder to grasp -- since more spread out -- then if Formatted with single and double spaces as needed. But that's just me! It would be nice if they would put out something to know how the Judge actually does his/her thing. That way, one could structure things to benefit the Court in their Reading / Process. Our Court rules, IMHO, are really "loosey goosey", so no insight there. Stay Safe, David |
