A couple of times within the last 2 weeks the display went crazy whilst editing documents in Word. By 'crazy' I mean that random symbols would appear where icons should be. e.g. Where the 'X' should be at top right there were random symbols of the type that one might insert into the document itself by selecting 'Insert' then 'Symbol'. Similary all along the ribbon. I was forced to close Word and load it again and it was OK again although I lost my changes.
The second time I thought I would check to see if any Office updates were available that might fix the issue and I saw a message "Updates are ready to install" so I installed them. This was about two days ago and it's been okay since then. This might have applied to Office 2019 per se but I was working in Word at the time so don't know if it happens with Excel and other apps. Is this a bug in Office? Has anyone else had this experience? It can't be something I did to affect the user interface like that. |
