Readability Stats - Only Does Subset
Hi. I believe I have followed the instructions correctly for generating readability stats, but when I try to generate readability statistics for a complete document, the data shows that only a small portion of the document is accounted for. For example, the word count is way too low). Any suggestions appreciated.

How did you generate the stats?
Did you select content before doing it? Is the content all sitting in the Document.Content range or is content contained in text boxes or some other areas of the documents (like header/footers, graphics etc)?

I generated the stats by first completing the pass with the "editor" to deal with all issues. Then, as promised, the readability stats pop up. However, the word count cannot be correct - it is clear that only a subset of the document is being accounted for. I then tried selecting the entire text (Ctrl-A). Same result. |

Not sure what you mean. Yes, there are headers/footer and images.

When I click on the Word Count on the Review tab, the word count EXCLUDES the words contained in the header and footer. This word count also doesn't include the words contained in graphics or Drawing Canvases (unless they are in a Text Box AND you have ticked that option in the Word Count dialog).
Perhaps you could post a sample document that demonstrates what is not getting counted and we can work out whether it is due to the way you have structured your content.

If you could post a subset of your document, that has the problem, we could address it. How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. Go to the part about attaching a file. For ideas on sanitizing a document, see Why a sample file is important for troubleshooting. How to do it. |

I appreciate your help, but I cannot create a sanitized version - when I try to do so, the problem disappears and I have spent way too much of my employer's time on this. I am a much older user - this is too much for me. I will have to get some young person in my IT department to figure it out.
Thanks for your willingness to help, through. |
