Default Browser-based editing causing styles corruption?

I recall reading -- likely here -- about browser-based editing causing corruption. I'm unable to find the thread and have an issue where a bullet list style became corrupted after authors edited via browser.

I'd be grateful for a link to the post or to other information about how browser-based work can cause corruption.

(The odd thing was, the corruption created lettered elements in the bullet list, which I've never seen before. Also odd was, the usual fix -- copying an intact version of the style back in -- didn't work.)

Thanks

I generally avoid editing complex documents in the online version of Word.

One would think that applying built-in styles would be safe in Word Online, but apparently not. :-(

Recently, I lost bullet formatting in a (short) document which I edited online. It happened to a paragraph where I wasn't doing any editing at the moment. The style just got lost and I had to re-apply it to the text paragraph.

This was a minor issue, of course, but it underlines the fact that editing isn't reliable in Word Online.

The possibility of browser+sharepoint was discussed in this thread https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...procedure.html
Ulodesk added an insight there that seems to confirm my hunch that the browser edits is to blame when lists go bad.

Consider this a third vote against editing complex documents in the browser (or mobile) versions.

Thanks for the responses, folks. I'm updating our best-practices guidelines to recommend not using the browser...
