Default Word 97, What's Causing These Document to Look DIfferent

I created a blank document with Font Times New Roman and Font size 14.
The text is set for "Body Text"
When text is typed the letters are quite large.

The ruler extends across the entire page, with the right indent just shy of the scroll bar and a small gray area between the right indent and the scrollbar.

==============================

I then pulled up another document (not in a separate Word Window) I had created yesterday,
The font is also set at Times New Roman and a size of 14.
The text is set for "Body Text"
Typed text is MUCH smaller.

The "ruler" (for discussion I'm including the right indent and gray area as being part of the ruler) STOPS about 1/3 of the way from the left to the Scrollbar.

From the end of the ruler (gray area) to the scrollbar is Blank, AND is not available (can NOT access).

PROBLEM:

I can't figure out to adjust either document so both are the same.
WHAT is Controlling The Display -- OR -- What Do I need to do to set both documents the same?

In the document with the large text sizes, which zoom has been specified?

Older versions of Word allowed for the zoom ratio to be saved with individual documents.

I looked at Zoom but overlooked the two document differences. Old Eyes!
