Default vba Option remove Editor from Ribbon

Hi everyone

Have Microsoft added an option to remove the Editor (pane) from ribbon. I can do it through customise ribbon remove but hoping there is an option like ShowDevTools = False.

I have added Spelling to QAT which invokes spell check.

Thank you.

I don't understand the question. Yes you can customise the ribbon but editing it via VBA is certainly NOT the easiest way. I don't know which 'Editor' button you are talking about.

The harder part of editing the ribbon is how you go about it. Using the GUI to customise ribbon will only make changes on your machine. If you want these ribbon edits to be implemented on other machines then you need to customise the ribbon via xml code installed in a template and then distribute that template to others.

For multiple computers, see Customize the Office Ribbon (It doesn't take rocket science) by Greg Maxey.

The spelling EDITOR - I've removed it from ribbon. Just wanted vba option like
Options.ShowDevTool = True (or False)
though it is a Pane.

Tks

There is no such option. You would need to use vba to rewrite the ribbon tab. To do that, you need the skills with XML described in the earlier link I provided and then to translate those into vba.

Are you trying to disable a spell check or hide the red underline under mis-spelled words?

Note that Example 2 (Baby steps) in Customize the Office Ribbon (It doesn't take rocket science) by Greg Maxey gives an example on removing a group from a Tab as well as rewriting one. If you have a template with this, loaded as a Global Template, it will change the Ribbon.

Are you a teacher trying to keep students from utilizing the spelling and grammar check tools in Word?

Removing the Editor from the Home tab, though, does not block use of the spelling and grammar. It merely hides it a bit.

We do not use Spelling and Grammar check tools. So remove EDITOR works and not pressing F7 but adding Spellcheck to QAT and just pressing that instead or providing a shortcut. The EDITOR takes up way too much space being a pane and practice management system uses panes and styles use a pane.

If we all had screens at 30 inches plus it may be more visually comfortable but don't think so. To each his own.

I can customise ribbons in XML that was not the question. - Question was there a VBA option to disable the Editor Pane or not? - Guess not.

Thank you for chat.

I assume you are talking about the Proofing Task Pane. Does this line of VBA work for what you wanted to do?

Application.CommandBars("Proofing").Enabled = False

I suspect you mean:
Code:

Perfect - "Editor" totally stops it invoking in AutoNew and AutoOpen.

Many thanks.

Happy Holidays to you both for persevering with my Pane issue
