Default Little problem with Find and replace feature

Hello, I was looking for a method to change the format between two characters (Round brackets for example). After a short search I found out the method is to use wildcards and a function like this:

(\[)(*)(\])

With this I can apply whatever format I want to text between "[" and "]"

However

With this method it also applies the format to the brackets themselves [ ], and I can't figure out how to exclude the brackets from the formatting while still applying to all the text between the brackets...

I still use Word 2003

Any help would be great ~
