Another example of someone fixing something that was not broken.
The display of the Quick Styles Gallery in at least Office 365, and I suspect all versions from 2016 on is problematic. The space allocated to each style has been increased so that the space that formerly would hold five styles now holds three. What is displayed has also changed. This really deprecates the usefulness of the gallery. It is discussed in the Word Community Answers forum and is the subject of a number of threads there. I provide several workarounds (not satisfactory) in my response. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...4-5a497c67c104 I urge anyone experiencing problems because of this to use the feedback mechanism and to post any ideas in that thread. ---- EDIT: I may have spoken too soon. I apparently told MS that I wanted to experience their "New Look" even though not in the Insiders Channel for releases. This is through the "Coming Soon" pane that pops up with an update. Aaargh! I turned that off and the pane went back to the way it was. I detail that in the thread on the Microsoft community. I urge folks to look at this and send feedback, though. Apparently, the option is not available in Office 2021 and perhaps earlier perpetual license versions. The Styles Gallery change stays on in Word 2021.

This is happening in Word 2016, 2019, and 2021, all without the megaphone. I suspect this is a mistake and the code is supposed to only be in 365. This has happened before. Apparently also in Windows 11 machines.
Doug Robbins wrote to me today with a registry fix for those without the megaphone. I am passing it on. Quote:
