Default PLZ advise about speeding up Word

Hi Friends,

Word (Office 2019) latest addition is working like a tortoise. SO slow I can take a nap before it shows selected text.

I do not want to upgrade my whole system and don't think I need to. What one factor has the most effect on Word? Memory, Disk speed, Graphics card.

System info below:

Thank You

Susan

Please do not make those trying to help go through extra steps to look at your question.
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum.

No one can answer your question without knowing much more about your system and the document(s) involved.
  • Generally, increasing RAM is the least expensive upgrade for speeding up performance.
  • In Word, consistent use of Styles for formatting can greatly speed up performance for longer documents. See Importance of Styles in Word.

Re Method #1, I favour renaming the file to say Normal.dot*.old. Another will still be created when Word is re-opened.
