Remove non-removable/reoccuring text box
Random text box in my document.
If I select it, it automatically seems to generate a new one. So when deleting or repositioning the selected one, a new text box automatically appears at the original position. See attachments. Any suggestions? I did not want to have this text box pop-up in my document in the first place. It is difficult to say what I did when it first showed up. Best, Stevie |

Do you have macros running?
Have you tried opening Word in Safe Mode to see if the same behaviour happens when in Safe Mode?

It's difficult to tell from your screenshot, but since that box is so high up on the page, it appears as though it might be within the header? Maybe you need to enter the header first by double clicking on the blank area to the right of the box, then select and delete the text box?
If clicking on it to select is generating another text box, can you try selecting it from the Selection Pane? For me (Word 365) that looks like the attached image under the Layout section of the ribbon. You can select on the name of the item, then when it's selected try deleting it. Or, you can try right mouse clicking it and examining the properties, changing a few and then seeing if it will delete more readily. That error message at the top of the page -- it that typical? Thanks for the suggestions, checking the selection pane was the right hint.
There were forty plus of these text boxes. No idea where they came from. I do not have any macros running and they were still visible in safe mode. They were not part of the header. As to the error messages in the header: These are StyleRef-Fields that reference to the Style "Überschrift". That is the German equivalent of Heading. I placed these StyleRef-Fields using a German word version but now work with an English one. Word seems to not be able to adjust for the translation. Original Problem has been solved. |
