It is seldom that you want to change margins in a document. See Margins and Indents in Word.
I am not seeing the numbering problem. How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly

I think you need to change the attributes on the style applied to that paragraph. Do you know how to modify styles?

Since the text is in a table, changing the document margins won't necessarily help.
How did you apply the numbering format? If you applied a numbered style, that is probably the reason why the text also changed. You can click in a numbered paragraph and change its properties, via Home > Multilevel List > Define New Multilevel List.
