Space betw last footnote and footer every page unable to remove, even by showing all hidden symbols

There is an extra empty line between the last footnote and the footer on every page. When I opt to show all hidden symbols, there are no paragraph markers or other unwanted symbols. How can I remove the extra space?



I have other files set up with the same parameters, and that extra space is not there in those files. But I am unable to see any difference between these files and the problem file which could account for the extra space.

I have tried going into draft mode and showing the footnotes; there also I could not see anything which would be causing the extra space.
