I found Charles' answers to harry really quite supercilious. Harry clearly explained what he wanted to do and all Charles wanted to do was promote the previous answers which weren't what harry (or I) was looking for.

Working with an office PC we don't get the chance to make modifications to the defaults or play around with macros, so those suggestions are often useless for the many users who work in an office like that.

The "Page Break Before" formatting does not do what we want - to insert a page break where and when we want without Word adding a paragraph mark every damn time.

I'm working with a form - not my design - that barely fits on a page. Adding an extra paragraph mark usually throws it onto a new page and then the page break jumps to another new page, so I need to go back and delete the paragraph mark so avoid the extra blank page.

Please detail what it is that you want unless you and Harry are working on the same project.

Note that nobody in this user forum can change the way Word works. Sometimes, it will be necessary to suggest other ways to complete a task. Also, it is often tricky to get an appropriate answer if you reply to an old thread instead of creating your own.

If your form has been set up with a table, you may have to define fixed row heights to prevent the content from "spilling over" to a new page.

Also, you also have to consider the paragraph mark following the table. See the article for which Charles has already provided a link.

"Nobody can change how Word works" yes, I get that. The question is pretty clear, though, isn't it? Can you stop Word adding a paragraph break every time you ask it to add a page break? The answer, it would seem, is "no".

My solution, after a night's sleeping on it: Use "Replace" to replace every paragraph-break-followed-by-a-page-break (^p^m) with just a page break (^m). Job done.

The answer is no, though you could use a next page section break which does not insert a paragraph break.
