Copy a series of text, while track the changes in the new document
Hi,
I have a couple of similar documents which need editing. I have edited the 1st document and will need to copy some of the text to the next document, while tracking all the changes made. Eg: Document 1: I have dog that bites Document 2 : I have a dog that bites. I want to select the whole sentence from Document 2 and paste on Document 1, and on Document 1, when I track the changes, "a" and "." will show up as the changes I've made. Currently, when I copy and paste the sentence, the whole sentence "I have a dog that bites." will show up as the changes. Can it be done? Thanks! |

Try the Compare facility. See Compare document differences using the legal blackline option - Word.

Hi Stefan!
Thanks for the quick response. However, it's not exactly what I want, coz ALL changes is tracked. Only certain sentences I need to edit whereas the rest will remain, as the documents are similar but not 100% the same. It's just that there are a total of maybe 10 documents that I need to edit, where some clauses are general clauses, and the rest are specific to the document itself. So it's quite a pain to look at both documents and change it one by one. Thought there may be a way to just copy and paste all the general clauses over and send it to the individuals and they each can track the changes of their specific document. |

Are you saying that only certain parts of the documents must be compared? In that case, you may have to do the comparison manually, I'm afraid.
