Hiding Style Separator Mark in the document?
Hello, Forums Members
I am using Style Separator to use a short version of the caption, my problem is the Style Separator mark is persistently appears at the end of the first sentence of the caption, I tried to disappear non-printing marks (Ctrl *), but no changes occur as Style Separator is not a part of non-printing marks, according to File>Options>Display> Always show these formatting marks.... My current and temporary solution are changing the color of the style separator mark to white to disappear, so is there any other option to hide the style separator mark. Thank you in advance |

The style separator should hide when you hide the "normal" paragraph marks (¶). I'm not sure why this isn't working for you.
Did you make sure to insert the style separator with Alt+Ctrl+Enter?

Thank you for your response
Of course, I am using Ctrl+Alt+Enter to insert the style separator To clarify, I use this technique to insert the style separator Firstly, separate the two sentences by Enter, then putting the pointer at the end of the first sentence, and then pressing Ctrl+Alt+Enter. You can download the attached file to explore the cause and what I mean Hiding Style Separator Mark.docx - BayFiles |

I was unable to download that file from BayFiles. Try uploading it to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive and share it that way instead.

Or, simply upload it here.
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. Although the style separator does not appear in the options list, it is controlled by the paragraph mark in the Home tab. You can toggle visibility with that control. Have you tried that. |

in your sample document, hiding paragraph marks will also hide the style separator, as expected. See screen shot below. What happens in your Word installation?

Click File > Options > Display and clear the options for displaying paragraph marks as well as hidden text in the "Always show these formatting marks on the screen" category.

So the problem is caused by hidden text that had been checked. I uncheck it now and the mark has been gone. Thank you for your consideration. |

Conclusion or takeaway: The options do not need a separate checkbox for the style separator because the one for paragraph marks also applies to the style separator.
