Hi Friends!

Does anyone have an ingenious idea to tell Word that when I insert a footnote the footnote char should be within brackets?

So opposed to 1, 2, 3

we would get [1] [2] [3]

I know I can easily do this via a search and replace routine, but then every time I add more footnotes I will have to do it again and again. Not very efficient.

Thank You

Susan

PS I am always afraid that I have asked things already. One of my meds (for heart failure) ruins my memory...

There is no option for this. The Replace function remains a remedy.

You could use Word's standard footnote referencing until you've finished your edits, then use Find/Replace, with:
Find = ^f
Replace = [^&]
