word hyphenation
Hi
When I'm using hyphenation in Word in my language it usually breaks the words right after a first letter (only after a vowel) which in my language isn't by the rules. Yes, I have installed proofing for my language. I'm using custom paper size, custom margins and justify for text. I don't want to, to "solve" this problem, always do Shift + Enter because I often add text before that row and then end up with one row with only two words. Is it possible to edit hyphenate rules in Word (just not to hyphenate right after the first letter)? Thank you in advance. Last edited by rogiburn; 05-09-2021 at 01:48 PM. |

Word's hyphenation rules have only limited options. See under Layout|Page Setup>Hyphenation>Hyphenation Options.

Thank you, but that does not help. I was hoping that there is an option to select not to break words after a first letter, but that I did not manage to find it. It seems that there's no solution to this problem.

There are no general options like that, as you have noticed.
Manual hyphenation may be an alternative. You accept or reject suggestions given by Word. Of course, this will be time-consuming on a long document, and you must do it after you have finished editing the document.
