InLine Footnotes

I have seen that this subject has been dealt with in other forums, but I was wondering if any new ideas regarding **InLine footnotes**.

i.e.

Word formats footnotes as:

1. This is the first footnote
2. This is the second footnote
3. This is the third footnote

I want -->

1. This is the first footnote. 2. This is the second footnote. 3. This is the third footnote

Such an elementary idea. So far away.... Sigh...

The nearest you'll get, even in recent versions of Word, is a choice of footnote column layout.
