I'm sure there is a way to fix it but it isn't going to be easy.
Bibliography styles are controlled by XML 'style' files (.xsl) buried in your machine. You can add more styles by copying files to the same location. If you dug through the APA file and compared it with the Chicago file you should be able to work out how to avoid the truncation of author initials. I would recommend you duplicate the APA file and customise it with what you learn from the Chicago or MLA file. On my machine the relevant files are in this folder %appdata%\Microsoft\Bibliography\Style Some useful links that give you an idea of what you are in for are: Create Custom Bibliography Styles | Microsoft Docs Working with Bibliographies | Microsoft Docs GitHub - codingo/BibWord: Microsoft Word and Bibliography Styles extender.
