Get circle to print with correct sizing
Hi all
Be kind to me I am an old fart trying to learn new tricks I am trying to print out a circle in Word 20cm in diameter, I have "īnserted" my oval shape and changed the height and width to 20cm problem is when i print out that circle it only prints out at 19cm x 18cm "oval" If I create that same circle in Publisher it is the correct size - anyone know the answer to getting it to print correctly from Word Not sure what version I am using but assuming it is current version as I subscribe to Microsoft Office per year Please dont be too technical LOL Thanks in advance Boxxy |

Ordinarily I would expect that you get what you asked for so if it is sized correctly then it should print correctly...
Perhaps your page setup doesn't match the paper you are printing out on and Word is scaling it to fit. Check the Page Setup and ensure that the Paper Size matches the paper the printer is using.

I assume you are using A4 paper size?
A 20cm circle is only 1cm less than the width of A4 paper and 'Margins' will narrow the text boundary to be less than 20cm. Are your 'Margins' set to 'Narrow'? |

Thanks for advice so far
It doesn't matter what size I set the parameters, Word prints the circle smaller Tried 10cmm and it came out 9.5 when printed Paper is set to A4 Margins have been narrowed Got me beat why it wont print as sized Cheers |

Word is not drawing software and I think that you are dragging a circle to the size you want by using the horizontal and vertical rulers. This does not accurately define the circle size and I do not think there is an answer, using Word, except trial and error to get your printer to print out the size you want.
You would need CAD drawing software to draw objects and print them accurately because CAD software prompts you to type-in the circle radius or diameter and will print out that size accurately if printed at 1 to 1 scale. I use professional software, AutoCAD, for drawing but there are many free CAD packages out there if you feel up to learning a new skill. Just search for "Free CAD software" on the internet. |

Out of interest, if you deliberately oversize the shape, through experimentation, can you get the correct size?
Also, if you opt to print as a PDF (your PDF print options may be different to those below), is the shape still under size? If the shape is the correct size in PDF format, it may point to a printer/printer driver issue. |

Can you post a sample document with your circle added onto an otherwise empty page? You can attach a document if you reply with the GoAdvanced button. We can have a look at how you have setup your document and test it on a different printer. It may help eliminate some of the possible sources for this issue. I'm pretty sure it is going to be either a page setup or printer driver issue. If you do follow the sound advice to save the file as a PDF, make sure to turn off the default PDF print setting to scale the page to fit - this will be absolutely guaranteed to shrink the size by about a centimetre.
