Cannot "Select All" In Word Outline To Copy And Paste Paragraph Numbers
I just created a Word 2010 document without issue on WIN 7. I used the enter button to create numbered sub-paragraphs and all worked well. However, when I tried to "select all" (using "control a" or via highlight) to copy and paste it into an email the highlighted selection will not include the subparagraph numbers no matter what I do. It only highlights and selects the text body. Can anyone tell me how to "select all" including the subparagraph numbers? Thanks |

This may have more to do with the paste options in your email program than with Word. Which program is your "email client?" Outlook?
You can use a Word command to convert automatic numbering to typed numbering. This is not easily reversed, though. |

When I try to highlight the Word Document everything highlights in blue except the paragraph numbers. I never get as far as the email. I cannot copy and paste to anything including another word document except for the body of the document which highlights just fine. The paragraph numbers never get highlighted to perform the copy function. Thanks for looking at the issue.

Despite the fact that the numbers are not showing as being selected, can you confirm that the numbers don't appear in the pasted result? As alluded in Charles' first response, pasting in Outlook brings the numbers anyway although this might not happen if you have options set incorrectly.
Charles also asked which email package you are pasting into.

I tried again by copying (numbers not highlighted) and pasting it into a blank Word document and the numbers copied. I must have not done it correctly the first time. I must have been hung up on the fact that the numbers were not getting highlighted and did not show up when pasted to mail. Thanks to both of you it does look like it was the mail recipient window that was the issue. Appreciate your feedback! |
